Microsoft: Keine Faceplates mehr für die neue Xbox-Variante
Nach Angaben von Microsofts Albert Penello waren die Faceplates für die alte Xbox 360 kein Erfolg.
Microsoft will in Zukunft keine auswechselbaren Frontteile für die Xbox 360 anbieten. Grund: Das Zubehör, das auch von Drittherstellern in zahlreichen Varianten angeboten wurde, hat sich als erfolglos erwiesen.
„Die Idee war nicht schlecht", sagte Microsofts Albert Penello dem Offiziellen Xbox Magazin. „Die Leute haben Faceplates für ihre Handys gekauft. Vor fünf Jahren waren Faceplates das, was jeder wollte. Es hat sich aber herausgestellt, dass sie keiner gekauft hat. Also haben wir sie nicht mehr hergestellt. Wir haben das ziemlich schnell eingestellt."
Faceplates von Drittherstellern wie MadCatz und Joytech sind weiterhin lieferbar; zudem bieten Hersteller wie Gelaskins Aufkleber für das Modell 360 S an.
